To walk with God wherever he may lead me, and to show love of Christ to each person I encounter along the way. There are not many things in this life I am sure of, except for this: Christ is the only thing worth living and dying for. Everything in this world will let me down, so the hope that comes from Him is all I have left.

Lessons I've learned since moving to Pasadena
Lesson #1
Make no assumptions about how much you'll have in common with a person, based on the geographic location that they grew up in/live in.
Truth be known, of all the people I have befriended at Fuller some of the people I feel that I have the least in common with come from the Midwest like me. Some of the people that I have connected with the most grew up overseas, in Hawaii, Texas or in SoCal. I consider this to be an extension of the lesson my paternal grandmother taught me from day 1, which is Make no assumptions about person based on their family members. I know I wouldn't want anyone to think that I am just like my sister or my brother, so I will try to extend the same courtesy to you.
Lesson #2
The State of California cares more about the environment than Iowa.
The state of California puts a big emphasis on vehicle emissions reduction, water conservation, recycling and other environmental efforts.
Lesson #3
Lesson #3 is a personal/spiritual one that is somewhat unrelated to moving to SoCal, and that is: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
It seems like an obvious one, but how often do I really consider how I am making someone feel with my words and actions? Not nearly enough...
But, I still think Midwesterners have a better work ethic. We'll see if California can change my mind on that.
More lessons to come...
